RAF was commissioned by a client who wanted something based off Lone Star, but with the Royal Air Force Logo as part of the design. He also wanted it to have a look of The Clash guitarist Joe Strummer's rode worn Tele. As part of the Rode Hard Collection, it also included a pickup upgrade to Fralin's and a single piece mahogany body, giving it a look and sound that can't be matched by an "off-the-shelf" guitar you would find at a retailer.
